Traditional (analogue) teletext is a well-established, user-friendly medium provided by all major European television channels and accessed by millions of people every day. Simply by pressing the 'text' button on their TV handsets, viewers immediately have access to thousands of pages of information which they can read without switching channels or interrupting the programme they are watching.
Analogue teletext is easily adapted for publication on digital platforms, including those of Sky and Virgin Media. It's also much more cost-effective than a digital teletext solution - a typical installation would be approximately £15,000 - and requires a fraction of the bandwidth used by its digital equivalent.
Data Design can set up and manage the service on your behalf or simply create the basic template and provide training for your existing staff in effective teletext editing techniques so they can update the pages themselves.
Investment in a teletext system can readily be recouped by the sale of page advertising. We can even provide an online teletext editor so that advertisers can update their own pages via the internet.
Our most recent development is Minitext, a platform for publishing teletext services on Blackberry mobile devices - this will be extended to include most other internet-connected PDAs and smart phones in the coming months.
We also have the capability to duplicate teletext services online (where they can be enhanced with images and standard web banners).
